"Book Ideas Wanted"
Workshop at the Ranch
January, 2009 Edition
Hi and welcome the this edition of Workshop at the Ranch. Happy New Year to you all.
With the year of 2008 behind me and my NEW Nikon D3X in hand, I took some time during the month of December to think about the future, what do I want to do, and how to go about accomplishing it. And what I have decided to do is publish a book. Yes, you heard me, I'm going to do a book and I want it to be available in late spring of 2009. OK, now I'm committed to it, but what kind of book should it be???
Now this is where all of you can help me. I want to put together a book that caters it to you, yes all of you who love to make pictures. I have lots of my own ideas, but I need to hear your thoughts and suggestions too.
So, what kind of book do you all want?
Should I make it a pictorial coffee table book with lots of full page pictures and two page spreads with captions? ....Or should it be a normal size instructional book with images, camera data, and text explaining how each picture was accomplished .... a sort of Workshop at the Ranch, but in book form. Or, maybe it should be a combination large pictorial coffee table book with some instructional text? ... And what should the subject be ... Sports only or a combination of subjects?, Maybe I should teach about Light and how to use it?, or Photography in general with lots of tips and tricks of the trade?, .... or Lightpainting, many people ask me if I have a book about Lightpainting and how to do it? ..... or all of the above rolled into one book????
