Hi and welcome to this final edition of On The
Road. Yes, I'm afraid it's true, this will be the final monthly
edition of On The Road. For those of you who have become avid
readers of my On The Road monthly articles for the past 6 years
it is with extensive thought that I have decided to discontinue
writing On The Road in favor of concentrating my attention on
each monthly Workshop at the Ranch article. By not dividing my
time writing 2 articles with advice and techniques I hope to increase
the depth and educational content of the monthly Workshop at the
Ranch articles.
BEST of On The Road - July 2008 - Lightpainting the Southwest
On The Road July, 2008
Hi and welcome to this edition of On the Road.
The May 2008 On the Road article featured a road trip I made to
Las Vegas, Nevada this spring. My wife Susan and I covered a little
over 2,250 miles during that excursion. I mentioned in the article
that the trip had several purposes and while celebrating Bart
Conner's birthday was the primary reason for the trip I also wanted
to investigate the possibilities for Lightpaintings at various
locations in Arizona and Utah. This months article features my
return to some of the National Parks and Native American Reservation
Parks that I recognized as locations suitable for making Lightpaintings.
BEST of On The Road - June 2008 - The Kentucky Derby
On The Road June, 2008
Hi and welcome to this edition of On the Road. This months
article parallels a companion article in Workshop at the Ranch
by featuring images from Churchill Downs and the Kentucky Derby.
Thoroughbred Horse Racing is my favorite sport to photograph.
It offers the photographer a wonderful variety of image making
opportunities that cannot be found at other sports venues. Dawn
to dusk, action to fashion, the Kentucky Derby has it all. So,
let's take a look at what my week at Churchill Downs offered in
the way of pictures and experiences.
BEST of On The Road - April 2008 - The Endless Winter
On The Road April, 2008
"Aloha" and welcome to this edition of On the Road.
"COWABUNGA DUDE!" Did you know that some of the best
California surfing is done during the winter months. I didn't
know this either, but it's true. Winter Pacific storms bring big
waves to the west coast, and so this winter I found myself on
the shores of the big blue getting a little taste of the good
life these high caliber athletes live. Several jobs unrelated
to the coastal craze sent me packing to California these past
few months and when I found some spare time I went looking for
surfers to photograph. Here are a few images I thought to be "Dank."
BEST of On The Road - December 2007 - A Look Back at 2007
On The Road December, 2007
Hi and welcome to this edition of On The Road. My schedule
really "amped up" to the point of exhaustion during
2007, but "I'm still standing." Here is a look back
at some highlights of 2007.
